So a Priest, Darth Vader and a few entertainers walk into a fundraising event. Now that sounds like quite the party. On Saturday, February 28th One for the Kids held its annual fundraising event celebrating its new name, The Curve Ball. Thrown by One for the Kids. Yes, a great time for a great cause was had by all.
Our sold out event brought laughs, tears, auction item winners, new friendships, but most importantly lots of money being raised for the Janowiak boys and our partner charities. When our guests walked into the Hyatt, they were graced with the soothing voices of the Lyons Township High School Madrigals choir. Hour d oeuvres filled hungry stomachs and cocktails flowed down the Vodka Ice Luge and into the decadent glasses. Outside there was a spotlight on the ice carvings of the Chicago Skyline and the oh so adorable Disney character, Olaf. Turn around and you saw people behind The Laugh Box camera posing with props and waiting for their flipbooks to be printed.
Open the doors to the ballroom and there in the middle is a stage with two pianos accompanied by lights, microphones and drum sets. Howl 2 Go dueling pianos sparked the energy in the room with classic hits and new tunes to grove to. The amazing talent, Johnny Vincent sang some Frank Sinatra favorites and The Paul Windsor Orchestra once again jazzed it up for our guests.
Cue our first curve ball. The entire Star Wars crew came and enjoyed the night. Selfies were taken and whispers were heard across the venue, did you see them! The Force was definitely with us. Speaking of that, cue the second curve ball. Peace be with you, and also with you Fr.Murphy. Father said a rather untraditional prayer that had people laughing when they realized what was actually going on. Nuns4fun. Check it out.
