Golf Outing Par-Tee

On Friday August 19th we held our 24th Annual Golf Outing and in classic One for the Kids fashion, it was a great time for a great cause. There were themed holes, trombones, Blackhawks goals and a full stocked bar that took us back to the days of Cheers. Norm would be proud.

The day started out with some rain showers but right at tee time the sun came out and so did those cold beers and hot brats. Johnny Vincent sang the God Bless America and Kevin “the Senator” Kickels followed suit with none other than the Bears Fight Song. We were lucky enough to have some Special Olympians come out and meet everyone. We always enjoy getting to know the awesome and talented athletes involved with Special Olympics.

The Cheers Hole took us back to 1982 in Boston “where everybody knows your name.” Our board member, Joe Chura had his father-in-law build a beautiful basement worthy bar just for this occasion. It was definitely a hot spot to hang out before during and after the outing. One of our favorite themes this year. Cheers!

The Killer Bears Tailgate killed it once again and upped their game with a decked out Bears Jeep parked on the hole. The ever so talented McMurray’s were on the trombones playing the Bears Fight song right when newcomers came to the hole to tee off. Hey now!

The Hawks hole got us in the hockey spirit with snacks, cute volunteers and a chance to win a prize if you got the puck in the goal! Drive on down the course and you’ll find the Harley Davidson hole. The place where if you got a hole in one, you could win a Harley Bike. Unfortunately, none of our superstar golfers were able to do so but hey, hopping on a Harley while wearing a wig is the next best thing right?

Welcome to Margaritaville. Jimmy Buffett tunes and strong beverages were once again a hit on this beautiful, hot summer day. A cold margarita paired with a pulled pork sandwich was the perfect Friday afternoon refreshment.

We also love having Dan Hampton, Chicago Bear’s legend, join the fun outing each year!

Thank you to our golf outing chairman, Kevin “The Senator” Kickels for an awesome event. A “hole in one” once again. We also wanted to thank everyone who donated, sponsored and attended our Golf Outing! Old Oak Country Club has been great to us for all of these years! Cheers!
